Deed of exchange was recorded on 6 January 1819. This indenture was made on 15 December 1818 between Richard Jones and his wife of George Town and Samuel Smoot of the same place. Richard Jones for and in consideration of an exchange of one Negro girl named Lucy Hawkins, a slave for life age about 9 or I 0, and a note of H. 0. Middleton for $50.75, sells to Samuel Smoot a lot of ground in the City of Washington designated by #16 in square 88. Mary Jones, wife of Richard Jones relinquishes her right of dower in the real estate.
