Bill of sale [and manumission] was recorded on 19 February 1819. David Bates of Washington City in the District of Columbia, states that "by virtue of the full power and authority vested in me by William H.P. Tuckfield and also for and in consideration of $175," he sells to Frederic Stinger, on behalf of William H. Tuckfield, a Negro girl named Harriott age about 10 and 4 months to serve Frederic Stinger as his slave, but after I September 1833 she shall be absolutely liberated and set free.
