Know all men by these presents that I Christian Clapp of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars to him in hand of paid or so secured to be paid by George Clapp of the County and State aforesaid. The right whereof I the said Christian Clapp do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and Delivered and by these presents do grant bargain sell and Deliver unto the Stated George Clapp his heirs Executors administrators and assigns Two Negros (Viz) one boy named Lish eight years old the other a girl named Mary eleven to have and to hold said negro for ever I the Stated Christian Clapp will warrant and for ever defend the right and title of stated negroes Lish and Mary from my self my heirs executors and administrators and from every other person or persons claiming or to claim stated negro (Viz) Lish and Mary unto the stated George Clapp his heirs and assigns for ever and further. I the stated Christian Clapp will warrant the stated negroes Lish and Mary heal they sound Negros in witness whereof. I the Stated Christian Clapp have hereunto set my hand and seal the 1st day of July AD 1814.
