Know all men by these presents that, I, Christian Clapp of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina, for and in consideration of the Sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid or so served to be paid by Isaac Clapp of the County and State aforesaid the receipt whereof, I the Sd. Christian Clapp do hereby acknowledge have granted, bargained, sold and delivered and by these presents do grant bargain, sell and delivered into the Sd. Isaac Clapp his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns a negro girl five years old by the name of Jane to have and to hold the Sd. negroes forever. I, the Sd. Christian Clapp, will warrant and forever defend the right and title of Sd. negro girl Jane from myself, my heirs, executors, administrators and for every other person or persons claiming or to claim Sd. negro girl Jane unto the Sd. Isaac Clapp his heirs and assigns forever and further, I the Sd. Christian Clapp, will warrant the Sd. negro girl Jane to be a healthy, sound negro in witness whereof, I the said Christian Clapp, have hereunto set my hand and seal this 1st July A.D. 1814
