Know all men by these presents that I, Yarborough Nicks, of the county of Guilford in the state of North Carolina of the sum for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Samuel Gileprest of the county and state aforesaid the Receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and myself therewith fully satisfied have bargained, sold, and delivered unto the said Gileprest one Negro Girl named Gally fourteen years old or thereabouts sound in Body and Mind as far as I know to have and to hold the said girl Gally unto the said Samuel Gileprest to his heirs, Executors, Administrators or assigns to the only use and behoof of the S. Samuel Gileprest his heirs Executors, Administrators and assigns forever and I the said Yarborough Nicks for myself, my heirs, Executors, Administrators and assigns against all persons shall and will warrant for ever defend by these presents in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day of October 1814.
