For and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and ninety dollars to me in hand paid before the signing sealing and delivering of these presents I Alexander Murphey have bargained sold and delivered unto Peter Hufman of Guilford County a negro woman named Dicey between Eighteen and nineteen years of age and her two children one a girl about two years old named Sophia the other a boy named Billey between three and four months old which said negroes I warrant to be slaves that they are sound and well and that I for ever will defend the Right Title and Interest of the same free and clear from the claim of myself my heirs or assigns or from all other persons whatsoever to the only only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Peter Hufman his heirs or assigns for ever. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this seventh day of September AD 1816.
