Reserved of Joel W. Peebles the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars in full purchase for a negro man slave by name of Ephraim (otherwise Ephram Harris) who is a bright mullato almost white about thirty five years of age of low stature he has a scar on his breast or side occasioned by a blister drawn some years past straight hair he ran away about eight or nine years ago and I have reason to believe he is now in Guilford county state of North Carolina and has taken a white woman to wife. He is by trade a Tailor. The title of the above slave Ephraim I will warrant and defend to him the stated Joel W. Peebles his heirs and assigns forever against the just claim of all persons whatever as witness my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of March 1819.
