Know all men by these presents that whereas Philip Horney late of the state of North Carolina and Guilford County deceased by his last will and testament in writing did give and bequeath unto me Samuel Horney of St. Clair County State of Illinose a legacy (heirs is) the one third part of a mulatto woman slave named Nez also one fourth part of a desk and also one tenth part of his cattle not otherwise divided as in said will may appear now know ye that I Samuel Horney of the county and state aforesaid have made deemed constituted and appointed Philip Horney Junior of Guilford County and state of North Carolina my true and lawful attorney for me and in my name and for my own use and benefit to sell on cause to be sold the one third part of the said mulatto woman slave named miz the one fourth part of the desk and one tenth part of the cows which is the legacy given and bequeathed unto me the said Samuel Horney by the said will of Philip Horney deceased as aforesaid also to transmit or convey by bill of sale or otherways all my right title and interest in said mulatto woman slave named miz as aforesaid also upon payment to him my said attorney to give a general release or discharge for the same to make execute and deliver hereby ratifying confirming and allowing all and whatsoever my said attorney shall lawfully do in the premises. In witness whereof my hand and seal this 16th day of January AD 1821.

State of Illinois is this day personally appeared before the undersigned Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of said state the above named William Kinney who Samuel Horney sign seal and deliver the above instrument of writing as his voluntary act and deed given under my hand and seal this 27th January 1821.
