Know all men by these presents that I James Criswell of the state of North Carolina and county of Guilford former for and in consideration of the Love good will and affection whereof I have and do bear towards my loving brother Andrew Donnell of the same state and county have given and granted and by these presents do freely give and grant unto the said Andrew Donnell his heirs executors or administrators or assigns one Negro woman woman named Henny and two children one named Alford and the other named Nerva to have and to hold the said Negros unto the Stated Andrew Donnell his heirs executors deceased to the use of his and his assigns forever and I the Said James Criswell for myself my heirs executors administrators and assigns will warrant and for ever defend the Said Negroes unto Andrew Donnell and his heirs executors and against all and all manner of persons by through there presents in witness whereof together with the delivering of these Negros I have here unto set my hand and seal this 20th day of December 1821.
