Know all men by these presents that I Levin Aydelot of the state of North Carolina Guilford County for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Jedidiah Smith of the county and state aforesaid hath bargained sold and delivered unto the sd. Jedediah Smith a negro boy named Ranson in the ninth year of his age and I Levin Aydelott aforesaid doth obligate myself my heirs executors and assigns to warrant from all persons and ever to defend the above named negro boy to the only and proper use and behoof of the aforesaid smith his heirs executors administrators and assigns forever as witness hereunto I set my hand and seal this 23rd day of February 1816.
