Know all men by these presents that I, James Williamson, of the County of Person and State of North Carolina in consideration of the natural love and affection I have and bear unto my daughter Parthenea P. Dick and her husband John M. Dick and for the advancement of my sd. daughter and other good causes and considerations me the sd. James Williamson hereunto grant and confer unto the sd. John M. Dick the following negroes (to wit): a negro man called Walter about 30 years of age, a negro woman called Sarah (wife of Walter) about 30 years of age, one negro woman named Sarah about 24 years of age, one negro boy named Jeffery about sixteen years of age, one negro boy called Dick 14 years of age, one negro girl called Celia 12 years of age, one negro girl called Betsy nine years of age, one negro girl named Cecily four years of age, one negro girl called Sophia three years of age and one negro boy named Shadrack ten months olf to have and to hold all and singular the said negro slaves unto the Sd. John M. Dick his executors, administrators and assigns forever and I the Sd. James Williamson all and singular the aforesaid negro slaves unto the Sd. John M. Dick his executors, administrators and assigns against me the Sd. James Williamson my executors, administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents and I the said James Williamson have put the said John M. Dick in full possession of the said negroes before the sealing and delivering of these presents before the sealing and delivering of these presents. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed seal this 24th day of August in AD 1822.
