Whereas two writs of executions commonly called writ of fieri facias were issued from the term of the county court of Guilford held on the third Monday of May A.D. 1822 the one in favour of Allen Peeples against Seton Tatum and Henry Tatum the other in favour of Watson and Ceckhan against the said Seion Tatum thereby commanding him the sheriff of Guilford that of the goods and chattels lands and tenements of the said Seton and Henry Tatum be cause to be made the sums which of said writs of execution I William Aranfield Sheriff of Guilford County proceeded to bequest upon two negroes as the property of the said Seton Tatum one by the name of Jesse and the other by Bob and having first advertised the sale of said Negroes agreeable to law did on the 23rd day of August A.D. 1823 at the Court house for Guilford in the town of Greensboro expose the same to publick sale for ready money at which time and place Prisilla Beeson became the last and biggest bidder for the aforesaid negroes at the following prices (To wet) Jesse at the price of $314 dollars and Bob at the price of $271 Now therefore I William Armfield Sheriff by virtue of my said office as Sheriff and in consideration of the payment of the aforesaid sum of money have and by these presents do bargain and sell unto the said Priscilla Beeson the aforesaid negroes salves Jesse and Bob and do more over covenant and agree to warrant and Defend the title of the said Priscilla Beeson of and to the said Negroes slaves as for as my said office of sheriff close compel me to do and no further. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 23rd day of August A.D. 1822.
