Know all men by these presents that I William King of Guilford County and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by Thomas Webb of the County and State aforesaid the receipt and whereof is hereby acknowledged and myself fully satisfied and paid have bargained and sold and by these presents do bargain and sell to the Said Thomas Webb a negro man named Jacob to have and hold the Said negro man to him the Said Thomas Webb and to his heirs and I the Said William King do warrant and defend the title of the said negro man Jacob to him against the lawfull claim or claims of all persons whatever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 8th day of May AD 1823.
