Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Dick of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina have this day Bargained and sold unto John Donnell of the County and State aforesaid a Negro woman by the name of Ceal about thirty three or thirty four years of age also a negroe boy named Harp about seventeen or eighteen years of age also another boy by name George about twelve or thirteen years of age and another boy named Mark about eight or nine years of age also an negroe girl named Tilda about twenty months old for the consideration of sixteen hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and I do by these presents warrant and defend the stated negroe slaves unto the said John Donnell and his heirs and assigns forever to him or their proper use against the claim or claims of all or any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this Seventh day of September in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty four. The word me and hundred was underlined before signed.
