Know all men by these presents that I, James Jinkins, of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and twenty five dollars to me in hand paid by James Gorrell of the County and State aforesaid. For which sum I, the aforesaid James Jinkins, have bargained, sold and delivered one negro woman named Filda (Tilda?), a slave for life aged about sixteen years which negro I warrant and defend from myself, my heirs and assigns and every other person, as witness my hand and seal this 11th day of October A.D. 1825.
