Know all men by these that I Thomas Caldwell of Guilford County for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by John Hoskins of said County before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant, bargain, and sell unto the said John Hoskins one Negroe woman slave named Dinah and her child Catherine to prove to have and to hold the said slaves by these presents bargained and sold and granted unto the only proper use and benefit of the said John Hoskins his heirs, executors, and administrators and assigns forever and the said Thomas Caldwell for himself his heirs, executors administrators and assigns all and singularly the said slaves unto the said Jno Hoskins his heirs and assigns against him the said Thomas Caldwell his heirs and assigns and against all and every other person whatsoever will warrant and forever defend the right and title of said Negroe and Child. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 29th of May 1824
