Know all men by these presents that I Ruben Dick of the County of Guilford in the State of North Carolina, am held and firmly found unto Nancy Galbreath of the County and State aforesaid in the penal sum of one thousand Dollars good and faithful money of the State of North Carolina to which payment will and truly be made I find myself my heirs executors and administrators firmly by these presents, sealed with my seal and dated this 6th day of February 1824.
The condition of the above obligations are such that if the above bounded Reuben Dick shall support and maintain the said Nancy Galbreath in a decent and proper manner during her natural life or so long as she remains single and shall use his best exertions to render her situation as comfortable as possible in his family and shall pay her $10. Ten dollars [...] during her life or so long as she remains single and shall in the event of the said Nancy Galbreath marrying returns to her the negro girl Aloe and half her [...], for which girl she said Nancy Galbreath hath executed a bill of sale to the said Ruben Dick the above obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue in witness whereof. I the said Ruben Dick have hereunto set my hand and seal on the day and date above written.
