Kno all man by these presents that I William Bradbery of Rockingham County and state of North Carolina am held and firmly bound unto Thomas Ross of Guilford County and State aforesaid for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid the wright of which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained sold and delivered unto the above named Thomas Ross one niggro man called Ben about 18 years of age which niggro man slave I warrant and defend unto the above Thomas Ross his heirs and from me my heirs or assigns and also from any person or persons whatsoever claiming under or from me as witness my hand and seal this fifth day of March Anne Domini 1805 --------
The condition of the above bill of sale is such that if at any time after the first day of December next in suing if the above named William Bradbery him his heirs or assigns or any person for him should pay or cause to be paid unto the above named Thomas Ross or his survivors the above named sum of two hundred dollars, than the above bill of sale to be void and of no effect nor virtue it being well under that the above named niggro Ben is to remain feasible in the hands of said Thomas Ross until the above sum be rendered back to said Ross as witness my hand this fifth day of March Anne Domini 1805. If the negro should depart from this life the above sum of money to be paid to the above Thomas Ross.
