John Vaughan gives to his four children Adeline M. Vaughan, William Vaughan, Susanna Vaughan and John Vaughan (Jr.) “…four certain Negroes named Annis, Peter, Jim and Cowper…with all their increase of the said Negro Woman Annis…”. Actual transfer would take place at John Vaughan (Sr.)’s death. No further information about the enslaved’s ages or relationships, but there may have been a couple of subsequent generations of “increase”. The document was signed May 30, 1834, presented to the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions May 1834 term, and re-registered May 1864.
