TAKEN up and committed to the Jail of Cumberland county, N. C., on the 1st inst. a negro man who says his name is ISHAM, and says he belongs to John Henry Murphy, of Halifax county, N. C. Said negro is about 40 or 45 years of age, dark complected, 5 feet 3 inches high, and had on when taken up black sattinet pantaloons, round jacket of the same, striped vest, and white wool hat. The owner of said slave is hereby notified to come forward, prove property, pay charges, and take him away, or he will be dealt with according to law. W. L. CALLAIS, Jailor.
