40 dollars reward

40 Dollars Reward. RAN away from the subscriber on the night of the 15th inst. a Negro man named DAVIE, between 22 and 23 years old, about 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, yellow complexion, thick lips, and very little beard, has been used to the sea, and talks like a sailor. He carried with him a drab cloth great coat, and sundry homespun clothing.--It is supposed he will make for some seaport and endeavour to pass for a free man. The above reward will be given to any persons who will secure the said Negro man Davie so that I get him again--and all owners and masters of vessels are forwarned from employing or carrying off the said Negro man, as the law will be rigidly enforced against those who many offend. John W. Howson. Halifax County, July 24, 1809. 4w 179
