The administrator of the estate of the late Matthew Anderson asks that Anderson's widow and children be permitted to transport their slaves to the west. She has nine children--six daughters and three sons, the oldest being about twenty. A friend is moving to the West, and the widow is anxious to go. Her slaves include two women and five men. In Virginia, four of the men hire for about $300 a year, while in Alabama or Mississippi, five men would hire for $1,500.
