Abstract

John Stilley Jr. asserts that his slave Philip is "Turbulent and Unruly." Stilley recounts how Philip ran away on several occasions, jumped on him "with great rage and Knocked [him] down with his fist," and threatened to shoot him with his rifle. With Phillip confined to jail, Stilley asks to sell him out of the state.
