Abstract
Aaron Justis seeks permission to export and sell his slave Benjamin Brown, convicted of burglary and sentenced to death but granted a reprieve by the governor. Believing that it is not possible to sell him in the area, Justis states that Brown is "now lodged in the Public Prison of New Castle County," whereby the petitioner is "incurring an unnecessary expence."
