Colquit purchased six "affrican Negroe boys" for $1,550 from James Manning and Robert Watkins, slave traders conducting business under the name Manning & Watkins. Colquit was to pay for the slaves in cotton, and Manning and Watkins agreed to credit his account using the sale price of cotton in Savannah and Augusta. Colquit complains that Manning and Watkins have refused to credit him with $646.46 for cotton he has delivered. He claims damages of $1,292, and asks that Manning and Watkins be compelled to answer his allegations in the next Superior Court session.
<subjects><subject>Crops (Cotton)</subject><subject>Assessed Value (enslaved)</subject><subject>Purchase/Sale prices (enslaved)</subject><subject>Slave trade (domestic)</subject></subjects></petition>
