Petition #20682305

Abstract

David Jones writes that he and John Childers had a verbal agreement. Jones would "furnish four working negroes two work Horses & the nessary tools" for use on Childers's plantation. Childers had also agreed to furnish Jones with "a small parcel of land" to plant cotton for his own use. Jones was to receive one-sixth of the crop he would grow for Childers. Jones claims that he maintained his part of the agreement. However, in August, and without notice, Childers had Jones removed from the plantation. Thus, he could not finish with the crops, and he received no compensation. Jones sues for $500 in damages.
