John Rodes devised three slaves to his heirs in his will: "Cassilla a woman 45 or 50 years old worth about $300, (who is now in Jail in Fayette County awaiting her trial upon a charge of poisening-) Addam a boy about 8 years old worth about $300, Lucinda a girl about 6 years old worth about $200." Allen Dodd prays that said slaves be sold and "their proceeds equally divided amongst his said children."
