Abstract
Joseph Usé presents to the court that he is the owner of a twenty-one-year-old female "quarteroon" slave named Anna and Anna's two children, three-year-old Charles and one-year-old Edouard. He further presents that he wishes to emancipate Anna and her children in consideration of Anna's "faithful and important services," her "honest conduct," and her "most respectful manner towards white persons." He vouches that Anna has never run away nor committed any crime. He asks the court to order that the "notices required in such cases" be posted up by the sheriff "according to law."
