Abstract
Mary Ann B. Gillespie represents that her husband, Lucius B. Elam, recently died intestate, leaving a considerable estate consisting of land, slaves and personal effect. The estate is unsettled and in need of an administrator. Mrs. Elam prays that an inventory of the estate be ordered and made. She also prays to be appointed administrator of the estate. Related documents reveal that Lucius B. Elam and his first wife, Elizabeth H. Bray Elam, were large slave owners.
