Abstract
John Mercer, former guardian of Henry and Nicholas Darnall, free persons of color and minor heirs of slave owner Bennett [Bennitt] Darnall, wishes to settle his account with the new guardian Thomas Sellman. Rezin Estep received a judgment against Mercer for "a considerable deficiency in the estimated quantity" of tobacco he bought from Bennett Darnall's estate. Mercer seeks credit for $514.48, "the difference between the Sum with which he was charged and that which has been recovered & assigned to Thomas Sellman." He also wishes to pass a final account of the estate with the court.
