Nehemiah Birkhead, guardian of his son Nehemiah K. Birkhead, states that his son inherited "a legacy of a negro man by the name of Daniel" from the estate of Sarah Birkhead. The elder Birkhead reports that Daniel has run away and the petitioner "has some expectation that he will be taken and lodged in Baltimore Goals." Birkhead asks that he be allowed to sell Daniel because "he has got in the habit of running away."
