Thomas Bowie and James Shaw are the administrators of the estate of Richard W. Wells. They report that "there is now in Baltimore a Negro man belonging to the Estate," and they "are apprehensive that the said negro may run off and be a total loss" to the estate. They seek "an order to dispose of said negro either at Private or Public Sale for Cash" with the stipulation that he must sell for at least $500.
