Petition #20982703
- Anne Arundel County, Maryland. November 28, 1827. - March 13, 1828.
- Court: Chancery
- Salutation: To the honourable Theodorick Bland Chancellor of Maryland
Abstract
In an earlier case, Berry and Sarah Griffith and Margaret and Lucretia Tilly received permission to sell slaves in a trust estate and divide the proceeds. On 9 November 1827 Daniel T. Hyde sold the slaves for them. Now, the Tillys and Griffiths petition the court to set aside the sales of all but one slave and to order a new sale "because there was no competition ... there being but one bidder for each negro sold" and "all the said negroes were sold for much less that they were worth."
Result: Granted.
