Abstract
On 29 April 1823, Washington Bowser, a free boy of color, was apprenticed to Gerard R. Hopkins. The indenture stated he was "as of the age of nine years," but Bowser avers he was "at least twelve years of age." Bowser states that he is now 22 or 23 years old. He asks that the indenture "be altered, according to his age as aforesaid" and that Hopkins be summoned.
Result: Granted.
