- Anne Arundel County, Maryland. December 7, 1858. - August 23, 1859.
- Court: Orphans
- Salutation: To the Honorable the Judges of the Orphans Court of Anne Arundel County
Abstract
William Prather, guardian of Francis, Laura, Mary, Thomas and Emily Gantt, states that his wards and their mother, Rose Prather, have "an undivided interest in a negro Girl named Margaret who is now in Jail." The petitioner "has every reason to believe that said negro Margaret set fire to the Buildings" that were recently destroyed, but he "has no proof of the fact." Prather contends that he and his wife would "be afraid to keep the said negro on the place" and therefore prays for authorization to sell her.
