Know all men by these presents that I Robert Smith of Guilford County and state of North Carolina have bargained sold and delivered unto Joseph Close Said County and State aforesaid a negroe boy named Jesse Jesse aged two years in may past for the consideration of the sum of ninety five dollars to me in hand paid which said Negro I myself and my heirs executors and assigns will for ever warrant and defend the said Negroe Jesse from any person or persons whomsoever claiming or pretending to claim the said negroe Jesse whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal this 9th day of August 1802.
