This Deed executed this thirteenth of March Eighteen hundred and Twelve between a William McGee of the County of Guilford and State of North Carolina of the one part and Hanie McCain of the County and State of the aforesaid of the other part. Witnessed (?) that whereas the Sd. William McGee stands lawfully indebted to Robert Lindsay Merchant of the County of State aforesaid. Namely in the sum of three hundred and twenty four dollars $324 -00 Money of the United States and being deservous to secure to him the same with the interest arising thereon in consideration whereof and the sum of five shillings to him in hand paid by the said Hanie McCain he the Sd. William McGee hath bargained Sold and delivered and by these presents doth bargain sell and deliver his negro boy slave - George and his Negro girl slave Selah to the Stated Hanie McCain his heirs and assigns in Trust and for the following uses and purposes that is to say that if the Sd. William Magee shall fail to pay the Sd. Sum of $324 with lawfull interest from the date of this deed He shall be lawful for the said Hanie McCain his executors administrators or assigns after giving ten days public notice to sell and dispose of for ready money the aforesaid Negro boy George and Negro girl Selah and to pay the money so raised to the said Robert Lindsay or so much as will be sufficient to satisfy the before mentioned debt and interest and the remainder if any there be shall be returned to the stated William McGee after deducting the costs of sale and shall the Sd. William McGee pay the Sd. Robert Lindsay his heirs be the said sum of three hundred and twenty four dollars $324-00 with interest as aforesaid on or before the first day of August Next___(year?) the Date hereof then and in that case this Deed shall cease and cease and become void and of no effect or otherwise ...
