For value received I have sold to James McKinney of the State of Virginia and the county of Augusta, three negroes. One woman named Ruth about twenty five or twenty six years of age old with two children, one a girl about seven years old named Beck, the other about one month old unknown whether boy or girl the property of which negroes I do hereby bind myself, my heirs and to warrant maintain and defend to the Sd. James McKinney, his heirs and assigns forever given under my hand and seal this twenty second day of April A.D. 1796.
