TAKEN UP, ON the 20th inst., and committed to the Jail of New Hanover county, as a runaway slave, a negro boy by the name of JIM, about 12 years of age, of a yellow complexion, quite stout-made, and a very likely boy. He says he belongs to a man in Norfolk, Va., by the name of Thomas Lewis, who keeps a sailor boarding house, and was taken by a Captain of a vessel, who told the boy he had bought him from his master, and immediately left with the boy. The owner of said negro is hereby requested to come forward, prove property, and pay all charges, and take him away, otherwise he will be dealt with as the law directs. OWEN FENNELL, Sh'ff.
