NOTICE. WAS TAKEN UP AND COMMITTED TO THE jail of Randolph County, North-Carolina, on the 8th day of December, 1862, two negro men, who say, on their examination, that their names are JOHN and JANUARY, and that they belong to Robert Alston, of Society Hill, South-Carolina. John appears to be about forty years old, and has but one eye. January appears to be much younger. Both of the said negroes are black, and say that they have been hired to work on the Danville and Greensborough Railroad. The owner is requested to come forward, prove property, pay all charges, and take them away, or they will be dealt with as the law directs. B. F. STEED, Jailor. Franklin Co., Jan. 2, 1863. 2--wtf.
