The petitioner explains that the law passed in 1787 renders "it unlawful to bring slaves into this State and [entitles] them in such case to their liberty."  Of the opinion that "she would be able to render the condition of the said slaves more comfortable to them &amp; more profitable to herself were she allowed to bring them into this State," she asks that she be exempted from said law.</abstract><subjects><subject>Manumission</subject></subjects></petition>
