Henry Casson of Talbot County, Maryland, married Elizabeth Baynard of Kent County, Delaware. Elizabeth Baynard inherited two slaves from her father. Casson seeks exemption from a Delaware law designed to prevent the importation and exportation of slaves. He therefore prays that a law be passed "authorizing him the said Henry Casson to remove the said Negro Dido and her child Louisa from this State into the State of Maryland and to there hold them as slaves."
