Philip Reybold of New Castle County, Delaware, owns a slave woman and her child. He states that William Credick, of Cecil County, Maryland, owns a slave named Dick, "the Husband of the Said woman, and the Father of the child." Reybold represents that Credick "is willing to sell to your petitioner the said negro man and that he is verry anxious to reside with your petitioner in consequence of his wife & child." With a mind "to gratify the said negro man Dick," the petitioner "prays your honourable body to pass an act authorising him to bring the said negro Dick into this State and to hold him as he is now held in Maryland a slave."
