Isaac Dale informs the legislature that he recently moved to Delaware from Maryland, where "my colored woman has an husband Belonging to a certain Mr. Samuel Gray." He explains that the move has put the slave couple "at two great distance from each other at least 50 miles and as they would not wish to Seperate from each other," the husband George "is anxious that I should Buy him and Bring him to his family" in Delaware. The petitioner reports that he has contracted with Gray to purchase George "provided you Should enable me By an act of yours to remove him into this State with Safety."
