Curtis Beswick states that "he is the owner of a certain negro boy called Caleb about twelve or thirteen years of age now in the State of Maryland, and that he is desirous to bring him into this State for the purpose of his own employment without affecting his property in the said boy." Beswick therefore prays that a law be passed "authorizing him to bring into this State from the State of Maryland the said negro boy."
