James Wilds recounts that his "indented servant ... was convicted on an indictment for burglary" and was sold for $280. Averring that a balance of $125.78 remains "after the fine and costs were all paid," Wilds therefore asks that an act be passed “granting to him the aforesaid clear balance of $125.78 as some compensation for the loss of the services of said negro."
