W. S. G. Walker requests compensation in the amount of three thousand dollars for his slave named Caroline, who died in jail awaiting trial on charges of burning his house. Due to the war, the Circuit Court was never held, either in November 1861 or April 1862, and, after fifteen months in jail, the slave died.
