John Jones seeks compensation for a slave that he purchased "for the purpose, of selling him" in Georgia. Jones reports that said slave "ran away from your petitioner and returned to North Carolina where for his villainous actions was Sentenced to death and accordingly executed." He therefore prays that a resolution be passed "directing the Treasurer to pay to him a sum equal to the loss he sustained thereby."
