James Alexander Sr. and his son James Alexander Jr. are "bail for the appearance of Joseph Alexander who was accused for haveing [persuaded] a Negro man a way from his Master." They declare that the said Joseph "has absconded" and that they have used all possible means "to bring him to Cort but has failed." With a judgment of one hundred pounds "hanging over us," the petitioners pray "your Honorable boddy to remit the Said recognicence or any part of it as you in your wisdom may think Propper."
