William Williams recounts that he purchased Boson and his wife Penny at the estate sale of Joseph John Hill. He states that he was induced to make said purchase "from a knowledge of the long continued & meritorious Services of the aforesaid Boson & Penny towards his deceased relation" and not to derive "any personal benefit from their Services." Williams adds that since said purchase Boson has "paid unto your memorialist the full amount of the purchase money." He therefore "prays your honorable body to pass an Act emancipating the Said Boson, Penny & Freeman Hill, & that they in future be known & distinguished by the names of Boson Hill, Penny Hill & Freeman Hill."
